This map represents a re-print issue of Ruscelli's edition of Ptolemy's Geography (Venice, 1561) published in Venice in 1574 at Giordano Ziletti printing house. Ruscelli (approx. 1504-1566) was a Roman philologist that edited several issues of Ptolemy's Geograpy (1561, 1562, 1564, 1574, and 1598/99). Ruscelli's new map of Slavonia is in reality a re-print of Gestaldi's map of Dalmatia (ref. catalogue No. 21). The only change made by Ruscelli, consists in re-design of the map's title. In the lower left corner there is a blazon in a rollwerk cartouche with a drawn of a sea horse with shells. The title is shown above the upper margin edge.
