Format: 16 x 26,5 cm
Technique: Copper engraving

This is a decorative view of the famous siege of Sisak of 1593 from the historical book "Chronologia oder Historische Beschreibung ... Ungern" by H. Ortel. It is a very realistic representation of the Sisak fort characterized by three round towers at the mouth of the Kupa in Sava. This view later served as a template for a great view published in „Die Ehre des Hertzoghums Krain“ by Valvasor in 1689. From a semi-bird’s-eye view, you can see a precise representation of the Turkish military's arrangment, the pontoon bridge on Kupa, and Petrinja in the background on the horizon. The legend from letters A to N is in the left corner.
